My journey with photography began when I was 13, the moment I bought my first DSLR camera with my pocket money. What started as excitement quickly grew into something much deeper. I didn’t realize it then, but that camera would become the foundation of my future.

From that age, I was constantly experimenting, photographing anything that inspired me and bringing my camera along whenever I travelled. Photography slowly became a natural part of my life, not just a hobby, but something that truly felt like me.

At 16, I decided to take a photography course to strengthen both my technical knowledge and creative vision. That step helped shape my skills and gave me the confidence to continue developing my passion in a more serious and focused way.

Over the years, photography evolved from a personal interest into a professional commitment. Around six years ago, I launched Maraya Gauci Photography, officially beginning my career as a photographer. Since then, I’ve continued to grow, learn, and refine my style, allowing each experience and every project to shape me as an artist.

Exploring new countries, cultures, and environments constantly inspires me and broadens my perspective, influencing the way I see light, emotion, and storytelling.

In 2025, I made the important decision to fully commit to my photography career, stepping away from my previous path to pursue this passion full time. It was a meaningful and intentional choice one that reflects how strongly I believe in my work and in continuing to grow as an artist.
